The high-jungle location with fewer pests, mild climate, indoor flushing toilets, hot showers and easy access to the city and hospital put us at ease in both body and mind.

“My discovery of ayahuasca began about 4 years ago, and although I felt the pull many times since then – just like life – it couldn’t be rushed. 2024 was finally the right time for me, and right on time it was.

Attending the 9-night retreat, with 5 ceremonies, in the Amazon, at the medicine’s source, with no connection to the outside world (hello digital detox), was the most profound and magical experience of my life. “This was my 3rd retreat working with Ayahuasca. I felt that the healing was deeper and stronger at La Medicina – possibly due to a variety of factors – the Maestro and Maestra and their many years of plant dietas, being in the jungle in Peru and also disconnecting from the world for the retreat as it’s off grid. Whatever the reasons, I almost feel like my prior ayahuasca work was recreational and this was deeply healing on a whole new level. After my time at La Medicina, for the first time I feel like my work with ayahuasca is pretty complete, at least for a long while.

The place is beautiful – how amazing it is to go off into the jungle ! The accommodations are wonderful and each room is unique and beautiful. I wanted a traditional experience so I stayed in one of the Eco Tambos. I loved my space and hammock and found the bathroom and shower at the maloca super accessible for my needs. The plants, flowers and animals around you are magnificent. There is a creek on the property as well. I loved the daily flower baths and was really sad as the retreat was wrapping up and I had my last one.

The group size at this center is really small – max of 12 which is wonderful. This is small enough to create beautiful bonds with each other. My retreat happened only to have 5 of us and we got incredibly close as we traveled through this very special and unique experience together.

Kasey and Vlad, the facilitators are welcoming and so very knowledgeable about Ayahuasca. They’ve done their own work for a long time and are amazing guides before, during and after the ceremonies. I don’t know where they find the energy to give us individually and as a group but they are there for you at nights for ceremony and daytime as you need them. I found them really approachable and easy to talk to about whatever my questions or needs were during my retreat.

Our yoga teacher was from South Africa. I loved that she suited our classes to the participants’ energy – sometimes we had more or less intensity or ease
depending on which day of the itinerary it was and if we had a ceremony the night before. She writes her own beautiful Yoga Nidra meditation sessions as well. She is really talented and I felt lucky to have her there for the week. The two gals who prepare the meals are lovely and you’ll eat really well while you’re there! A mix of traditional dishes of fish or chicken, grains and veggies will prepare you for your ceremonies.

I am deeply in love and awe of the Shipibo traditions and healing. Maestro Gabriel and Maestra Tanya , to me, almost seem like magical unicorns who arrive to the ceremonies, create the most safe container for healing, sing these beautiful icaros to the group and to you individually, then leave on their magical carpet. The gratitude that I and each of my fellow journeyers felt when they’d completed an icaro to us was palpable.

I came away with an extremely open heart, a clear path, trust for myself, and I know that I cleared a lot of stuck energies out of my body and out of my way while I was there. I trust and 110% recommend La Medicina to anyone looking to start or continue their work with Ayahuasca.”
