Welcome! We are honored that you are interested in joining us for an immersive experience in nature, community, and medicine. Please note that these rules and policies are subject to change at any time. The following Terms and Conditions have been designed as a result of our practical experience gathered over the years and serve to prepare our guests for a positive and safe experience in ceremony and in a program as a whole.
This agreement is between La Medicina (”La Medicina” or the “Host”) and You (the ”Participant”).

By booking a retreat at La Medicina you agree to all the following terms and conditions:
La Medicina: Reservation and Participation Agreement
This document sets out the terms and conditions governing reservations and participation in retreats at La Medicina. Please note that these terms may be subject to change without prior notice.
Pre-Retreat Health Assessment: As a precondition for acceptance into any retreat, all prospective guests are required to pass our medical and psychological evaluation. La Medicina reserves the right, in its sole and unfettered discretion, to decline a reservation request if an individual does not meet our screening criteria.
- The Participant agrees to take part in ayahuasca and medicinal plant ceremonies with the Host out of his/her own free will and is not coerced by anyone. He/she has been advised that ayahuasca is a visionary plant medicine and is clear on the meaning of this.
- The Host will do their utmost to ensure the safety and comfort of the Participant during the retreat. The Participant, in turn, agrees to abide by all rules and regulations as outlined in these terms and conditions, the activity and release waiver, and/or guidelines communicated orally during the retreat.
- In observance with Peruvian Law concerning the illegal practice of Medicine: Ley N° 28538, La Medicina is not a medical facility as defined by Peruvian legislation and no health care is practiced under its direction. Its owners and employees are not health care professionals and do not practice health care of any form. The healers at La Medicina function as spiritual guides and teachers. Retreats are offered for the sole purpose of spiritual connection and personal growth.
- The participant agrees to truthfully answer all questions in the medical questionnaire that is part of the registration process. He/she agrees to full disclosure with the Host, in writing, regarding their health history, medical conditions, and any medications they are taking, prior to booking. All information will be deemed confidential by the Host.
- In the event that the Participant is taking medications, it must be disclosed in the intake form and call. If during intake it is found that there may be a contraindication with a prescribed medication, it will be the participants responsibility to consult with the prescribing physician regarding possible interactions with the natural medicines supplied by La Medicina. The Host is not responsible for the personal decision of any guest to stop taking medications or change their medication schedule, and accepts no liability for any adverse effects from withdrawal from any medication.
- The Participant confirms that they have not been diagnosed with the following mental conditions: bi-polar, or any form of multiple personality disorder, schizophrenia, schizophreniform, or schizoaffective disorders.
- The Participant confirms that they are not taking any SSRI’s, SNRI’s or CNS medication upon attendance of the retreat at La Medicina. If the participant is taking any of the above medications they will disclose this to our medical intake team upon intake process.
- The Participant understands that it is important to prepare physically and mentally for the retreat. This includes adhering to a rigorous diet prior to arrival, abstaining from street drugs, and pharmacological restrictions required by La Medicina for at least two weeks to one month prior to the start of the retreat and for at least four weeks following the last ceremony.
Medication Contraindications: If a guest is deemed medically unsafe due to recent prescription medications that are contraindicated with ayahuasca, we reserve the right to withhold participation in any ceremonies.
- After booking and initial intake, the Participant agrees to notify the Host of any material change in their medical condition in a timely manner and understands that withholding medical information could be dangerous to their health.
Booking Confirmation and Payment: To confirm your retreat reservation, an initial non-refundable down payment of $250 is required at the time of applying for a retreat via credit card. This covers administrative costs for La Medicina’s intake process. This fee is non-negotiable and non-refundable whether a participant is accepted or rejected from a retreat program. Note that if you are unsure or have any questions please contact us directly at either info@la-medicina.com or booking@la-medicina.com.
- Upon sending the downpayment of $250 it is required that the participant submit a medical intake form and potentially schedule have an intake call.
- Upon acceptance into a program at La Medicina the participant is required to make a 75% deposit of the total cost of the program selected, payable electronically. The initial $250 down payment is applied to the deposit. The remaining balance is expected in pristine USD bills upon arrival at La Medicina, reflecting our on-site cash-based operational system.
- Our 75% deposit can be made by the following methods. Note, some methods do have a small percentage fee that is paid by the participant.
– Credit Card Payment Deposit (fee is 4% paid by participant)
– Bank Wire Transfer (fee depends on the bank and is responsibility of participant)
– CryptoCurrency (we currently take Bitcoin, Etherum, USDT, and USDC)
– Please contact us if you have any questions in regards to deposit methods at booking@la-medicina.com. Depending on the situation, there may be other methods of payment. For this balance, please use US bills of crisp, like-new quality; These can be requested at banks in one’s home country. To avoid circulation of forged bills in South American countries, any bills with signs of tear, extensive wear, or any markings on them are not accepted for exchange. - Please do not depend on withdrawing the remaining balance from ATMs in South America. ATMS have daily and weekly withdrawal limits that will make this very difficult. Thus, we ask you to kindly bring the remaining balance with you in US bills of good quality.
Payment Obligations for Last-Minute Bookings: In the event of last-minute registrations while in Peru, it is mandatory that the full remaining balance is paid prior to the commencement of the retreat.
Cancellation and Rescheduling: If you cancel your registration more than 8 weeks prior to the starting date of your retreat, you will be able to transfer the whole deposit for a future retreat date. This rescheduling can be done only once and within the time frame of 2 years. You can also opt for receiving the deposit back minus $250 administrative fee.
- If you cancel your registration within the 8 weeks of the starting date of your retreat, you can transfer your balance towards a future date retreat. Refunds are not available at this stage.
- Please note that no-shows or cancellations within 48 hours of the retreat’s start date will incur the full retreat cost.
Policy for Early Departures: In the event of a guest’s premature departure from the La Medicina before the end of their reserved stay, no refunds, whether full or partial, will be granted. All costs associated with transportation back to the city shall be borne by the departing guest.
Travel and Medical Insurance Requirement: It is obligatory for every participant to purchase flight and travel insurance to cover all contingencies and expenses, including potential medical costs incurred during the travel dates. Domestic health insurance will not suffice for this purpose. We do not vet insurance plans; if in doubt, please contact your insurance provider for clarity.
Adherence to COVID-19 Protocols: Guests must acknowledge and comply with the onsite COVID-19 protocol at La Medicina, which includes possible temporary isolation and testing if symptoms are observed, and other appropriate measures as determined by La Medicina staff.
Risk Acceptance and Liability: By booking a retreat at La Medicina, guests acknowledge and accept the inherent risks associated with travel and potential exposure to COVID-19.
- La Medicina disclaims all liability for any expenses, medical issues, or disruptions to retreat activities if guests test positive for COVID-19 during the retreat.
Code of Conduct: At La Medicina, we highly value the safety, experience, healing process, and personal boundaries of all our guests. We expect the same consideration from our guests. Any conduct violating these values may result in immediate expulsion from La Medicina without a refund. Such conduct includes but is not limited to:
- Sexual harassment of any guests or staff
- Actions endangering your own or others’ safety
- Persistent disruptive behavior affecting other guests’ comfort or healing process
- Any form of discrimination against anyone at the center on the basis of age, gender, race, religion or social status
- Use of any illicit substances or drugs at La Medicina, except for tobacco
- Any form of theft La Medicina reserves the right to dismiss any guest at any time, at our sole discretion.
Participation in Ceremonies: Guests are required to partake in all ceremonies throughout the retreat, whether or not they choose to drink ayahuasca. Non- participants may be asked to leave without a refund and are responsible for their own transfer costs.
Confidentiality and Non-Disclosure: La Medicina respects the privacy of its guests. We do not share personal or contact information among guests without explicit permission.
Activity Waiver & Release: All participants are required to agree to and sign our Activity Waiver & Release as a precondition to participating in the retreat.
- The Host is not liable for the injury of any Participant that may occur during or after the program. By participating in a program at La Medicina and accepting this Agreement, the Participant expresses full understanding of and responsibility for the risks that they may encounter during a program. The Participant releases La Medicina, its owners, and employees of said responsibility. Any legal action taken against La Medicina will only take place in Peru under Peruvian Law.
- In the case of a medical emergency during a retreat that requires evacuation and treatment, the Participant will be accompanied by one of La Medicina’s staff to the closest medical facility. The participant agrees to pay for all medical expenses done on his behalf.
Admission Discretion: La Medicina reserves the right, in its sole and unfettered discretion, to deny admission to any guest.
